Curious Souls

Hey guess what? We just bought plane tickets back to the USA! The Boekes will triumphantly return on 13 September. And the best part? Our tickets from Denmark to NYC were only $529 for two people (reserved exit row seating) on Iceland Express !! Here is the new working plan... Yes, we were originally planning on returning home for the holidays in December, but we couldn't decide where we wanted to go next (Asia or South America). So, we'll live in the US for a while (location to be determined) and then go back out again once we figure out the best place to go based on weather, cost, fun-to-be-had and other random factors. In the meantime, we are in Barcelona enjoying the Battlestar Galactica-esque subways... ...and, if we have some extra time on our hands, we'll try to solve the salt deficiency problem that, according to their ads, seems to be a huge problem among Catalan women. Perhaps it's the crazy air here...

We are on the move! We decided to buy Eurail passes and spend the next month and a half doing a circuit of Western Europe, Morocco and some of Eastern Europe. We love traveling by train! Video here . So far on this trip, we have been fairly spontaneous with our schedule. In the past two months, we only had three appointments to keep with family and friends putting us up at their place or flying in to see us so we just kind of floated where we wanted to when we wanted to. This spontaneity gave us flexibility to stay longer in areas that we really enjoyed (i.e. San Francisco and Astoria, OR) but resulted in less time for other places (i.e. southern Oregon). It also made us miss seeing some people because we didn't know we were near them until after we were gone. This month will be different. Not only are we making sure that we have time for everything and everyone we want to see, we are letting you know where we are going to be in advance. If we are going to be near you this month, please let us know! And if you have any recommendations for the areas we will be heading, let us know that as well!
