Car-Free in FC

We are officially car-free at the moment* so our breakfast plans this morning involved a combo of biking and busing.

Who needs a stinkin' car? :)

*The (new in September) radiator in our van broke. Booo! Since it is fairly new, it appears that we can exchange it for a new one but that will take some time as it has to be shipped out and then a new one shipped in. Looks like we'll have plenty of time to get the hang of being car-free!

  1. Good luck on that one! Now that I also live in a cold weather state I can tell you that even though is a pain in the a* to clean the car and get ready to drive in the snow, I take it vs being in the cold streets. Congratulations for walking the walk...

  2. I definitely agree! Going car-free is fine most of the time but there are certain errands (and weather) were a car is a must! I do hope this car hiatus will at the very least familiarize us with the bus system - but it will be nice to have the car fixed. :)

I spy...

I was looking for directions on Google Maps today when I realized that Google had just added "birds-eye" views for Fort Collins. So, of course, I went to see what our home looks like. Much to my surprise, I found that Google just happened to catch us on the morning of March 29, 2012. Our moving day! So, you better think twice before deciding to run around naked in your back yard. You never know when the aerial photography plane is going to fly by!

What We See From Our Car Window

We will be back stateside tomorrow tonight which means we will have greater access to internet (via our phone) and can finally catch you all up on all of the fun we've been having in Canada and the northeast U.S.! Until then, I thought I would share some of what we have seen while driving. Not all of them, dear. What is blocked out?? And why block that thing out and keep "Variety"? Doesn't "Variety" imply that they are selling the thing that they blocked out? I'm so confused. Gas Bar. So many interpretations, all of them kind of weird.

Chickens Are Scarier Than Crows, Didn't You Know?

The garden is in!  If our Scarechicken does its job, we will soon have a nice crop of heirloom tomatoes, onions, hot peppers, green beans, basil, parsley and thyme! Huge thanks to my parents for their help getting the area ready. It was a jungle!
