Asher the Grocery Mule

We are super fortunate to live a half mile (0.8km) from a neighborhood grocery store*. Usually, I bike there (with panniers and bike trailer) but on grocery shopping days when Jon has time and I haven't yet walked Asher, the three of us will walk.

Yesterday, anticipating a large load, we put Asher's backpack on him so he could help us out.

It worked out great! He didn't mind at all and we were able to get all of our groceries home without any additional gear (i.e. a personal grocery cart).

Thanks, Asher!

* We actually split our grocery shopping between Beavers (the neighborhood grocery store) and the Fort Collins Food Co-op. The Co-op is awesome for bulk food and household items like spices, flour, shampoo and laundry detergent but Beavers is cheaper for other items like veggies, meat and canned goods. Fortunately, I pass right by Beavers on my bike route home from the Co-op so it's quite easy to do both spots in one trip.

I spy...

I was looking for directions on Google Maps today when I realized that Google had just added "birds-eye" views for Fort Collins. So, of course, I went to see what our home looks like. Much to my surprise, I found that Google just happened to catch us on the morning of March 29, 2012. Our moving day! So, you better think twice before deciding to run around naked in your back yard. You never know when the aerial photography plane is going to fly by!

What We See From Our Car Window

We will be back stateside tomorrow tonight which means we will have greater access to internet (via our phone) and can finally catch you all up on all of the fun we've been having in Canada and the northeast U.S.! Until then, I thought I would share some of what we have seen while driving. Not all of them, dear. What is blocked out?? And why block that thing out and keep "Variety"? Doesn't "Variety" imply that they are selling the thing that they blocked out? I'm so confused. Gas Bar. So many interpretations, all of them kind of weird.

Our latest DIY adventure... Homebrew!

After participating in a few different brewery tours around town, the Curious Souls wondered "how difficult can this brewing thing really be?" Today, with a few beers (for inspiration), a few friends, and an extract kit , we decided to try it out for ourselves. Enter (stage left) End of the World Brewing... ( Vid link for the iPhone impaired ) Easy, right? Just like making stew... or tea... or stewing tea... or something... And now, we wait (quite impatiently) for the little S. cervisiae to do their job.
